How to set default value in additional data tab

Dear Expert,

Can anyone guide me how to set default value for a characteristics in "Additional Data" tab while creating document part?.

Client wants default value should be set for characteristics in "Additional Data" data tab whenever he/she creates document Part 1 for particular document type.

I can see BADI's like

DOCUMENT_MAIN01

DOCUMENT_MAIN02

which we can use one of them but not able to set characteristics value for particular document type.

Hi,

Also you need FM -. CTMS_DDB_HAS_VALUES to check if values have been populated at on Document_main01-before save.

On CV01N -> create

In badi document_main01 - after_read_data use FM -> CTMS_DDB_SET_VALUE. This sets a value in the field.

I think that BADI DOCUMENT_MAIN01 with method BEFORE_SAVE should enable you to hand over a default value for some classification characteristics.

Hi Cristoph,

We tried all the way but could not able assign characteristics value before saving the document. it means we can only see the assigned value using transaction CV02N. but our requirement is to check if the user fills any value into characteristics it should check with default value which we would like to assign whenever we create a new part of the document which we are not able to achieve.we tried a lot but could not succeed.

Nay idea if we can achieve this....

Hi Bhuwan,

You can use templates for this requirement. while creationg DIR document number, document type, document part,document version below this template option is available. This can be used to copy the additional data fields as it is. Instead of making default this will be useful for modifying also in future if requirement comes.

Thanks for your suggestion ravindra, but my requirement couldn't meet the requirement. whenever user create a document part - 1 that time only default characteristics value should be set not while creating new version or new document or even other then document part - 1.
