Extening the code generated by Visual Composer

Dear,

We haven't installed the visual composer yet, but we would like to know if it is feasable to extend the code generated by the gui machine (e.g. add some simple checks or calculations). Furthermore, what happens if you change the generated code and make some modfications with the visual tools afterwards?

Thanks for your response,

Bruno De Wolf

    Hi,

At current time we do not recommend to alter the code generated by Visual Composer for the following reasons:

    1. The API is not public nor is it documented

    2. Once you have changed the code there is no way of going back to the model and make changes (as it will overwrite your code changes)

    3. Once you decouple from the model, you break the abiliy of getting upgrades and fixes in the code.

So the bottom line is if you choose to do it, you should understand the risk and decide whether you want to take it.

There is currently no certain date when better support or API documentation will be given on this subject.

    Regards,

    Yaniv.
