Company Code Assignment to Controlling Area

Hello Experts,

I am on a rollout project, where we are creating new Company Code.

Company Wants to have same Controlling Area as of existing Company Code.

However, existing controlling area setting is "Controlling area same as Company code". In this case I will not be able to map new company code against existing controlling area. Ideally Controlling area setting should have been u201Ccross company code cost accountingu201D.

How to handle this situation.

Hi

The notes 120826 describes how to assign a new company codes for currency type 10. Note 119428 provides information about Controlling area: Currency type 20 or 30.

BUT Changing the currency settings is not possible as transaction data exists! To avoid inconsistencies in this case, the best would be to contact the department "System Landscape Optimization (SLO)" , which provides special consulting services for similar enquiries: http://service.sap.com/slo for further information

Hi Ajay,

Actually Currancy is same for both company codes. But as existing controlling area has setting "Controlling Area same as Company Code" I am not able to assign new company code to this controlling area.

However client is willing to have same controlling area. Is it possible to do?

Ideally to assign multiple company codes to one controllong area, Controlling area should have setting Cross Company Code Cost Accounting. Which is not the case above.

Hi

refer the note, it answers all the questions

I think it shud not be a problem as long as currency remains same... But, the note will be the best source of reply
