Configurable BOM

Hi,

I'm new to SAP S&D module.

My company are dealing with furnitures (mainly chairs and tables).

Had been tasked to do a configurable BOM for the sales order.

Example: during the creation of sales order, i can choose the type of color, size, legs of tables/chairs by a dropdown list. (make to order)

When creating the sales order, it trigger off the prouction order and to bring the stock back to warehouse and continue with the rest of the SD process (delivery, invoice..)

Please guide me (preferred) or provide me with links to read up that can guide be step by step.

Much help is needed. Greatly appreciated.

Procedure for Variant configuration with BOM(Varinat BOM)

1. Create a Configurable Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)

2. Create Charateristics in CT04 - ZCOLOUR, where in values mention the legs like RED,BLUEetc

Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPRICE, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND it is for variant pricing.

3. Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZCLASS ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.

Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign ZCLASS

4. Now wite the dependencies as per you requirement,We have 5 type of dependencies like Precondition,Selectconditon,Action,Procedure and Constraint.

5.Assign Those dependencies in CT04(Charcteristic values)

Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)

6.Now Goto CS01 maitanie BOM item and subcomponent in Item level and Maintain Class Under Class field level.

7.Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition) for varint condition price.

8.Now go to CU50 for stimulation,just select you plant and check it Varint BOM.

Assume now my company only hase finished product level.

I have to maintain my own BOM from Raw Material level.

How would i do that?

The procedure is as follows:

1. Create a Configurable Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)

Create Charateristics in CT04 - ZColour, where in values mention the values like black, red, etc

Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND

3. Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - Zfurniture ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.

Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zfurniture

4.Now go back to CT04 - enter ZChair -go to values- select Leg 2- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front write - $self.ZPrice='2' and save

Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)

Now select Black- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of it write - $self.ZPrice='Black' and save

Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)

Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Legs 2 & 4 give the prices accordingly and create the sales order using VA01.

Your requirement can be configured through variant configuration concept.

Please follow the below link, there you can find the variant configuration process. what does it mean, where we can use this process.

This you can achieve with Variant configuration, as soon as you select the characteristics in sales order and save and Once you run the MRP, system will create planned order then convert to Production order etc followed by production process.
