HI Everyone,
I am working on the physical inventory count process. My system is allowing pickings from that bin even when I am doing inventory in that bin.. It is not supposed to.Can you please suggest me what settings I need to make. Thanks in advance
Hi,
You can block all the goods movements relatin to a stock management unit for a purposes of physical inventory. This can be done my means of posting block indicator in the physical inverntory document header.
You can see material master , the block is displayed in the physical inventory lock indicator as 'X' (material is locked for movemenst due to physical inventory, in the STORAGE LOCATION view.
In case of company's own stock goods movement are bloacked at level of plant and storage location.
when count results for relavant stock management is entered, the block is lifted. In material master the physical block indicator is et to A(PHYSICAL INVENTORY OF MATERIAL NOT YET COMPLETED). The indicator is unset when inventory difference is posted.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
When you check the posting block check box for any physical inventory document, it will not allow any goods movement until the count results are posted. If you allow goods movement during counting inconsistency in counting result may occur due to that goods movement. So it is best practice to block the goods movement during counting.
Please confirm whether you have activated the posting block while creating physical inventory document for a particular combination of storage type and storage bin.
Setting physical block indicator
Setting a Physical Inventory Block can be done in one of two ways:
1. You can set a goods movement block when you create the physical inventory document. This procedure is recommended when the physical inventory document is created directly before counting begins.
2. You can set a goods movement block after you have created the physical inventory document by changing the posted document. This procedure is recommended when the physical inventory document is not created directly before counting begins.
This is very much possible as per your settings. Always goods movement will be blocked, if you sleect posting block in MI01 screen.
As mentioned in earlier post the status in material master will get changed only after posting the count, so that you can do the goods movement before posting the differences but only after the posting the count.

Hello ,
Thankyou for confirmation.
It may be a reason that if you have goods movement (sales order/purchase order(intercompany)) whose scheduline line confirmation date is falling before the physical inventory document date , then in this case it may allow stock removal / picking from the storage bin which is being counted irrespective of posting block .
I tried to check this error in our test system, but cuurently we dont have any open orders falling before inventory counting date also we are using cycle counting technique.
Thanks and Regards,
Tushar
In WM there is no extra customizing nor any screen field to control movement blocks.
Once the document is activated, you cannot pick anymore in a WM bin.
Are you sure your document is active? e.g. when you create inventory documents, you must not have any open TO. If you have such, then only the document is created but not activated. you have then to activate the document in an extra step after you have closed (confirmed or deleted the open TOs) in LX22.
