Central system monitoring from Solution Manager

Hi,

My goal is to setup Central Monitoring for all systems in our landscape and be able to receive CCMS alerts. I was looking at the monitoring setup guide (CEN SAP Netweaver 7.0 SPS18), but I was wondering if I need to go through this guide to setup Central Monitoring from our solution manager system? or I should be using a different guide? I'm a little confused I guess...

Can our Solution Manager system become the central monitoring system (CEN) and be configured using the "monitoring setup guide (CEN SAP Netweaver 7.0)"???

Is there a different tool I should configure in Solution Manager to do CCMS monitoring on all systems?

Some guidance would be appreciated.

One last thing, Do I need to create most of the CEN and CCMS agent registration from Client 000?

The documentation isn't very clear on which client to create the registration of the CCMS agent and creating the CSMCONF Start file for CCMS agents.

Hi,

You will have to install and configure the CCMS agents on satellite systems and register these CCMS agents to the CENtral monitoring system where the satellite system agents send the alerts to.

Preferably, Solution Manager has to be the CEN system because of the built in functionalities within it.

The link mentioned by Paul should be of help to you, to understand some of the steps required to confirgure it.

Once the CCMS agent installation and registration part is complete, in SM system you have to ensure that the RFC between SM and Satellite systems are working properly, if not it has to be rectified.

Define the system in SMSY and define the Solution too. Then activate the systems to be monitored through SM (in Workcenter or Solution_Manager)

The parameters (on SM) are monitored based on the data sent by CCMS agents and it can be further monitored centrally through Solution Manager, as per the monitoring frequency required by you.

In Addition to the central system monitoring, you can also use the System Administration which provides proactive monitoring functionality.
