Executing SAP WinGUI outside of a browswer window

We are running EP6 SP2 w/ latest patches. We want to have a link that a user clicks on and launches the WinGUI outside of the portal browswer window. Essentially, we are trying to execute the WinGUI application via the portal.

Has anyone done this or something similar?

Thanks,

K

We got this working via the portal (only if we enter a specific SAP transaction)

We want the GUI to display the "Favorites/SAP Menu" on the left side of the GUI. The launching the GUI from the portal, the GUI does not display the "NAV Menu". The SAP transaction is "session_manager" or S000. All other transactions work.

Does anyone know how we would get the "Favorites/SAP Menu" to display?

(Can we create another transaction that calls S000?)
