SBO DI: Add new ItemGroups

I am importing a large number of items to SBO through an excel-macro. A long with the item-info the customer has a field for itemgroup. Is there a way through SDK to create an ItemGroup if the itemgroup doesn't exist in SBO? I have search through DI-API but I have not found a way to create/update itemgroups. It looks like the itemgroups needs to be predefined before the import can take place.
