BW iView session timed out

Hello:

We are using BW query iViews on a page of the portal. Some

of the times when the page is being displayed, the BW

iView gives an error like...

Application Server Session timed out (-11)

Error: -11

Version: 6020

Component: ICM

Module: icxxthr.c

Line: 1705

Server: biwqas1_BWQ_00

Detail: Session does not exist

Can any body got thro' this kind of problem ?

Usually a browser refresh would settle the problem, but

why in the first place it is happening ?

    Hi,

which is the version of your BW?

I had the similar problem in the past and I solved it with the setting of the following parameters in the RZ10 transaction:

    icm/keep_alive_timeout

    rdisp/plugin_auto_logout

    icm/conn_timeout

You can find the description of these, on the WAS Installation and configuration guide.

    Kind regards

    Federica

    Its a configuration issue.

    icm/keep_alive_timeout

    icm/conn_timeout

    rdisp/keepalive

    rdisp/gui_auto_logout

    rdisp/max_wprun_time

You will need to look at all of these parameters on your BW system (RZ10). When running BW reports within Portals you can get timeouts from different areas and it will involve making changes to the above parameters to tweak your particular system.

Its almost a guarantee that the default parameters are not going to be sufficient.

Timeouts can happen between the communication of BW, and Portals from long running queries, session timeouts or other things. This is specifically for BW 3.x and Portals 5.x. I know adding the latest patches helps with this issue.

    I don't know how Portals 6.x works.

There is also a setting on the web template that will allow the template to never timeout. It is under the properties of the template and check the session encoding in URL checkbox. This will cause the template to ping the BW server before it gets to the time out limit.

    Thanks,

    Jeff
