local development with the gui machine

is it possible to test gui machine on my local pc (windows xp). i already installed IIS 5.1, sql server 2000 SP3 and the gui machine.

i can start gui machine but when i want to creat a new model, i get the error message: "No GUIMachine Server found at specified address".

ok, i don't have the portal 5.0 SP5, but do i really need one for only testing this tool (create some interfaces ...)?

regards daniel

    Hi Reichard

That product was never tested with any version other than Windows 2000 for server.

Regarding the error you are getting:

This happening as there might be some patches on the IE.

The system requirement for the server and client for Visual Composer is IE60 SP1 not patches.

    Hi, Himanshu

Is it the official line by SAP to urge people to use the IE without any patches? Will you pay for my downtime, if I get a virus because of GuiMachine prerequisites?

Though it was not mentioned I gathered that you're evaluating the Alpha version of Visual Composer. That version had some maturity problems such as Himanshu protrays. However, the problem you describe might also come from an ISAPI filter installed on this website (by the EP5 if you ever had one installed on this machine). Try removing those filters.

Anyway, the pilot release and the General Availability release do not have those problems and are much stable.
