Anybody know about 'page cannot be displayed' error?

Hi!

Has anyone experience with a "page cannot be displayed" error? It happens all the time in our portal, especially

when buttons are pushed the following page produces this error. This does not only happen with self-programmed iViews but also with SAP-iViews. Even the detailed navigation bar vanishes when this error comes up.

Any ideas welcome!

I am facing the same problem. Do you or anybody else does have a solution for this "Page cannot be displayed" error?

Background:

Before our users can log in the first time, they have to register at the portal. That means go to the portal logon screen and click on the support link. On the next screen they choose "Registration" and click on yes. They will be forwarded to a Registration Screen. There they asked for their personal data. The users enter there personal data correctly into the registration form and click on "Yes". Usually, they should be receive an registration email and the registration page should be refreshed. But what happens to most users is that they do not get a registration mail and instead of an refreshed registration page they see the "page cannot be displayed error message".

We monitored the network traffic and the result of our research is that the browser is doing nothing. Means after the user pressed on the "Yes" button of the web form the browser does not send an HTTP request but shows the "Page cannot be displayed" message immediately.

We use MS Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2.

I appreciate any kind of help. Please let me know if you know how to fix this.

Hello,

a first hint gives you <b>SAP note 622350</b>.

<i>Various versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and 6 sporadically display an error page reading "Page cannot be displayed" instead of the expected response page. Other symptoms are broken or incomplete pages or sometimes random returns to a previously displayed page.

The problem is specific to IE communicating with a server side network protocol stack from Microsoft, i.e. the Internet Information Server.

The root cause of the problem is an invalid HTTP POST request generated by IE with a POST body that has two additional bytes (cr+lf) attached to it without the bytes being accounted for in the HTTP Content-Length header.</i>

A look into the given <b>Microsoft Knowledge Base Artikel 816405</b> confirmed the suspicion and gives advise how to fix the problem.

<i>Modify the registry value for

Internet Settings\SendExtraCRLF

registry DWORD to 0x0. To do this, follow these steps:

...

a. Click Start, and then click Run.

b. In the Open textbox, type Regedit, and then click OK.

c. Locate, and then click the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\

In some rare cases it is also required to delete the browser cache of the affected user.
