using mobile as a store and forward

Are you aware of anyone using the mobile framework to sync orders created in an existing on-line application with an SAP back end? Currently we have a system that sends data to our R3 instance in real time, the problem is when R3 or the network is down so is our on-line system. Could the mobile sync framework solve this problem by acting as a store and forward approach? This would greatly improve our up time.
