Loading Archived data to BW

Has anyone experienced loading from archieved data? All extractors as fas as I know are linked to 'live' data or data that still resides in R/3. Any suggestions on the best way to load archived data to BW?

    Hi Carlo,

The easiest way to read archived R/3 data into BW is to use the Archive Information System (AS) to read the data (only the fields that you need) back into a flat AS structure. Then you can define a generic DataSource on the AS table and execute an extraction directly from it.

The process is outlined in the How-To paper "How to… Extract archived R/3 data via the Archiving Information System". The how-to paper can be found on the SAP service marketplace ( -> Service and Implementation -> How-to guides for BW 3.0B)

The content extractors are 'archive enabled' but as far as I know the logic to read the R/3 archives and mix the data with the online data has not been implemented for any of the content extractors. Of course this could change in the future, so please check the new content releases feature lists.

    I hope this helps,
