Do existing (third party) SAP-adapters work with SAP XI?

In the current situation, various applications are connected to SAP via (third party) SAP-adapters.

Now, SAP XI is going to be implemented.

Is it possible to keep using the current adapters, but then connect them to SAP XI rather than directly into SAP?
