How to use stored variants?

Hello,

I'm currently developing a MVC-based application that hast to act like an alredy existing report.

Everything works now except one "little" thing: The "normal" report offers the ability to store and reload variants. Does anyone know how to use these variants within my MVC-application and how to create new variants in the MVC-application and store it in a way so that the "normal" report can make use of them?
