Overall Pur req release

My client is using Item wise Req release procedure.

1. Is there any document which say Item wise release is better than Overall release or some document where SAP recommends Item wise release for Purchase Requisitions?

2. Second thing , if I would move from Item wise release to Over all release, what can be the Pros and Cons?

Means what would happen to old or current Purchase reqs in system etc etc

Please advice.

Thanks,

    Hi,

    Quesrtion 1:

Itemweise release or overall release are both good depending on your business needs. If you are using as characteristic one, that is general for the requisition, then you should use overall, but if you use characteristics, such as plant, material group,... which might be different for each requisition item, then you should use the itemweise release.

    Question 2:

Changing from itemweise to overall or the other way round, while already in productive, can lead to inconsistencies. I would recomment to create new releases, not to change the old ones.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

    1.PR release with classification

Both item wise and overall release is possible.

PR w/o classification only item wise release possible.

Based on requirement you can design the PR release stratergy for item wise or overall release.

2.The impact of changing the PR release from overall to itemwise would be,

The PR's which are closed will not have any impact.

The PR's still open will be affected with the change of release from overall to itemwise.

As the release stratergies willbe re determined for each line items.

    Regards,

    Venkatesh

    Hi,

ThereĀ“s no documentation for this. You only have to see if the characteristic you want to use can change within the items. For example "created by" does not change same with total value... but for example plant, can change from one item to the other one.

You can decide, even if you have plant as characteristic, to use an overall strategy, but then you have to take into account the note 365604 point 2/d.

    Hi,

You can refer to SAP notes 493900 and 365604 for more details. They will be helpful.

    With regards.
