Hi

Before upgrade have you taken one Offline or Online backup .. and Backup of Profile and Kernel directory

have you stopped SAP services like SAPoscall and all other DB services..

if so restore the backup

Hello

The best practice to do kernal update

1. Get all required files down loaded and uncared in some temp directoy

please check os ,database version and do not forget unicode or non unicode

2. always take backup of old exe folder

3. stop sap ,saposcol

overwrite the files or replace from temp to existing exe

4. check persimmison by running saproot.sh if unic system

6. start the sap system with new kernel

Now looking at your problems

1. take clean stop of system again and start again . I guss this will resolve

2. if it is hampering work then revert the kernal update and start sap system . Then troubleshoot for error

3. check for the enque server and by mistake any tampering with any parameters

Hope this helps

Success!!!

>>ERROR => Invalid profile parameter dbms/type (or environment variable dbms_type)

You need to set the environment variable dbms_type=<your_DB> (example for oracle dbms_type=ORA)

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi,

Check the error

*B *** ERROR => Invalid profile parameter dbms/type (or environment variable dbms_type) = <undef>, cannot load DB library*

Looks like the environment variable DBMS_TYPE is not set properly.

For oracle DBMS_TYPE = ORA and for SQL server its MSS.

Set the parameter and try, Let us know the result.

Regards,

Ravi

I have already tried with DBMS_TYPE = DB6 then restarted but no results..

You sure that you are able to test the R3trans -d without any issues.

Open new command prompt and check whether the enviroment vairlabe is active using set command.

Make sure you have set the environemtal variable as system variable.

Also, have you installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package as per SAP Note 684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs ?

Hello Kumar,

The SAP Start Service does not take the environment from the <sid>adm automatically but from the registry. It seems that the SAP service runs with an other environment. To fix the problem note 370872 might help. You can transfer the local environment into the registry for the SAPService user (ntenv2reg.exe) or define by a registry key that the environment of a defined user is taken during startup of the service (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\<SID> -> AdmUser=<domain>\<sid>adm).

Best regards,

Klaus

plc.com is the message server host.

Check the profile parameter for enqueue service name and see why its pointing to MU-SOLMAN-01?

check above error. Is your enqueue server is different process?
