Method Overloading at View Level

<b>Hi</b>,

<font size = "4" face = "Monotype Corsiva" color = "#0000FF"> <b>At a view level WebDynpro allows you to create methods. But these methods have the be of unique name. They don't allow methods to be overloaded, which is such an important asset to be had. Why doesn't webdynpro have this? And is there any future plan to support the same. </font></b>

    Hello Murali,

Could you please send me the project and let me know exactly, what you want to do and the method you have created and you want to call? Please expect some days of delay since I will be back in the office beginning of next week.

    Hello,

I think you could do that at least at the end of the coding where the comment says:

<i>The following coding section can be used for any Java coding that has not to be visible to other controllers/views or that contains constructs currently not supported directly by Web Dynpro (such as inner classes or member variables etc.)</i>

    Regards

    Michael

    Hi Ilarum,

It is possible to overload methods in Java (in ABAP it would not be possible). But this would not be a typical case within a Web Dynpro application, because Web Dynpro consumes rather fixed signatures. If you have applications where it would make sense to have method overloading, you could remove the method from the controller and put them in pure Java classes.

    Hope that helps!

    Best regards, Karin
