migration from WAS 6.30 to WAS 6.40

I am trying to migrate from was 6.30 to was 6.40.While doing so I have done a mistake of removing the files and folders of was 6.30 by deleting them. After that I realized that we need to uninstall rather than delete.

I tried uninstalling but could not.

When I proceeded with installation of was 6.40 the following message comes.

An error occurred during the installation of component Sneak Preview Edition of SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40> Install SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40. Press the log view button to get extended error information or press OK to terminate the installation. Log files are written to Sneak Preview Edition of SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40> Install SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40.

when I pressed View button I get the following .

ERROR 2004-03-16 17:11:49

MDB-070021 Registry information for database software found in system but the software check failed. The software was not properly removed or installed incorrectly.

Now my aim is install was 6.40 on my machine(Windows 2000 server)? How to rectify the damage I have done by deleting the files/folders of was 6.30?Any ideas or clues how to get out of this problem...Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Folks,

Sorry for troubling you.I have solved the problem myself. All I did was to restore the files deleted by me.(Luckily I did not delete them from bin). And then I uninstalled the WAS 6.30.

I started trying to install WAS 6.40 but till now unsuccessful.I will come up with more issues.

A word of caution. We need to uninstall the previous version before going for upgradation.
