Dear All,
since I did not use MDM yet, I would like to ask following :
- is it possible to use the MDM also for the Batch Master File? I. e.: Can the Batch Numbering System be run within the MDM ?
Thank you,
Emeric
Dear Markus,
thank you very much for the answer.
Can You imagine that a future implementation of Batches in MDM, which You do not exculude I understand, may could help to solve the problem behind my initial question ? This problem is a customer requirement as follow :
- from each Logistics-Prozess with Batch Creation involved, the Batch Numbering System ( SAP-standard or modified via User-Exit ) should run on a separate server and after the Batch Determination Pocess is completed the calling process must continue as usual.
What do You think, is the BAPI-technique suitable to solve the problem ?
Best Regards,
Emeric

Dear Emeric,
Without having done a clear analysis of the objects and processes it is hard to speculate on what could be possible and what not.
However, since a batch is per definition a unique object, it could be relevant for MDM purposes within Content Consolidation to gain overall cross-application knowledge on e.g. stocks etc.
If batch numbers were kept on the MDS, the ID -mapping between these central IDs and the local batch IDs could possibly be handled via API (if I understood you right to access the mapping between the different ID's - of batch numbers). But right now this is just speculation.
Kind regards,
Markus
Dear Emeric,
So far, Batch Master Data have not been included in MDM (which does not necessarily mean that they never will).
For more information on currently (SAP MDM 2.0) supported master data objects, see the SAP Help Portal: (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm200/helpdata/EN/db/7086db21b6924d8a73ef1d28eee11e/frameset.htm).
Kind regards,
Markus
