BW Archiving cubes with aggregates

I've archived data with aggregates and it appears to adjust or rebuilt the aggregate. Can anyone explain how SAP decides which will occur?

Did U take a look to "Pilot" section: there's a good

Technical Course in Level 2, named ASUG104 - "Data Archiving in SAP Business Warehouse".

According to the process shown in slide 6 after successfull validation of archived data, delteion takes place. As a consequence aggregates are rebuilt, because otherwise ...

Hope it helps

Slide 6 did not elaborate on the topic. The SAP documentation states:

"The delete phase is based in the selected archiving session selection criteria. Here, existing aggregates are

either adjusted or newly created.

The delete phase can take place at a different time to the write phase.".

Depending on the aggregate and cube it could be better to rebuild as apposed to adjust. Does SAP determine which is best?

During the hierarchy / attribute realignment run BW makes a decision about whether to adjust or rebuild aggregates based on the percentage of rows that require change. The threshold is set using RSCUSTV8.

Possibly the same threshold applies in archiving? This could be tested by changing the parameter to 0 -- always reconstruct, or 99.
