Shopping Lists in an MDM Master/Slave scenario

Former Member

Hi,

We want to implement the functionality "Shopping list" in the Catalog.

It is currently not in use becasue we use slaves, and have been waiting for SAP to release a patch related to this. The Catalog is connected to R/3 using Call Structures. We are NOT using SRM.

We need information on when or if such a patch is available, and if we need to make changes to the current configuration to implement the functionality.

The following is info from 2008 :

"If you are using Shopping Lists in an MDM Master/Slave scenario you have to keep in mind, that the creation of Shopping Lists is only possible on the Master repository. After synchronization, the Shopping List can be used as well on the Slave repositories, but can not be modified. A Slave repository is for read access only.

If your scenario requires the usage of Slave repositories and the creation or modification of Shopping List, you need to use the Shopping Cart Template functionality of your SRM system instead."

Thank you

Hi Thomas.

As far as I remembe, the shopping list functionality is achieved through Master-Slave scenario as well in the condition of Master repository is up since catalog is configured to show the slave records.

You specify the Master-Slave conditions in the SPRO settings.

Let say you have 2 slaves and 1 master

Slave2->Slave1->Master

which means Catalog is connected to Slave2 and if you are trying to use shopping list and hence this is slave it tries to connect to the next availabe repository which is Slave1(since this is also a slave) and again it connects to Master repository where it can achieve its requirement by creating the shopping lists. If master is not there then it provides you the error as mentioned in your question.

If this is not your case, then you have to look for other possible solutions provided by SAP.

Thanks for the response Bala.

May I ask you where in the SPRO you can define this?

Is it in R/3 or in SRM?

Hi Thomas.

SPRO transaction to be executed in SRM.

From there you can navigate to

Find Supplier Relationship Management -> SRM Server -> Master Data -> Define External Web Services (Catalogs, Vendor Lists etc.).

Also you can refer notes SAP Note 1170807 and 1141870.

Hi again,

I refer to my question:

"The Catalog is connected to R/3 using Call Structures. We are NOT using SRM."

Since your answer points to the SPRO transaction in SRM, it is not applicable for our scenario.

Can anyone help with this problem?

KR,

Thomas
