Multiple shipments in one big shipment

Hello Experts,

just wanted to know is it possible to have one parent shipment having numerous child shipments(containing n no of delieveries) as the scenario we have for ollective delievries in one delievery.

As i am bit suspected about the same but if not possible than why is there is a tab of Shipment+ in vt02n??

Dear Manish

Ofcourse it is possible to add shipment in shipment.

This process is called transportation chain.

Read carefully in the link which you have given it very well explains that.

Suppose there are various modes of transport for sending goods to one place to another.

For ex Plant to Port by Truck ( Priliminary Leg)

dep. Port to dest. port by ship (Main Leg)

then again Port to Customer by Truck ( Subsequent Leg)

Note: Priliminary, Main or Subsequent leg is defined in shipment type config. in Leg indicator field.

Lets assume each step is carried out by different Forwarding agent or Document required at each stage could be different.

So it makes sense in ceating three different shipments and adding them in one master shipment. This simplifies the tracking of entire shipment process and one single cost document can also be created for Master shipment.

And I think there can be n number of shipment within shipment.

As per requirement shipment type can be configured.

this is to inform you that

single & multiples we can set in single shipments

but

setting number shipments in one single master shipment is not possible i think so

please check & update the forum

this is to inform you that,

multiple deliveries - one shipment document.

one single delivery - multiple shipment document - both can be done.

this you can achieve through - VT01N - There are 7 options in shipment.

basing on thier requriment one has to choose which they want.

Yes in both ways you can do. That is for one delivery, you can do multiple shipment document and similarly, for multiple deliveries, you can consolidate one shipment document. Its all depends on your Shipment Type configuration.
