Sneak Preview WAS 6.40 destroys EP6 installation - help needed!

Hello,

on my laptop, I have got an EP6 SP2 for developing purposes, running fine until today. This morning, I installed the WAS 6.40 Sneak Preview Edition. This is running fine, also. But now the EP6 cannot be started!

It is obvious that both cannot run together at least on the default ports; but the problem occurs even if WAS is not running at all!

The dispatcher seems to start up, it even states that "Element 2000721068" has joined successfully.

But calling the portal via IE results in a "Service Unavailable 503!" response - "Initialization of Dispatcher failed".

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Detlev

PS: Even after uninstalling WAS 6.40 the portal does not come up again

Sneak preview should not affect any portal installation as long as it is running on 6.20. Is that the case? (As far as I know it's not even possible to have another server).

What database do you use?

Theses are two different java processes that do not use any Registry settings or so.

Did you check your Java environment? 6.20 could have problems with java 1.4, which is used for 6.40. Maybe you have updated your java_home?

Helly Benny,

yes, it is 6.20.

I am using SQL Server.

JAVA_HOME had been set to 1.4.2, I have now corrected it to 1.3.1.

And ... IT WORKS AGAIN! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!

This took now about three hours, an in project critical situations, you know how long three hours can be...

Thanks a lot!!!

Best regards

Detlev

Hm... hope this teached you something. Don't install a 1,5 GB environment if you really need to work on this computer afterwards....

We're trying to keep those situations away from you, but it's quite sure that we cannot think about everything.
