Friends,
I am a newbee to this SAP PLM and have a question.
My requirement is something like I need to asasign numbers for brakes, engines, suspension, cab etc such that If I select brakes material type and press organisational levels in transaction code mm01, it should pull automatially a number starting with 20XXXXXX. Similaraly if select for engines, suspension, cab etc, it should pull numbers starting from 30XXXXXX,40XXXXXX,50XXXXXX.
I appriciate if you guyz can help me out understand how to create different material types and how to assign number ranges as explained above.
Thanks,
S.Achar.
Hi
Please check the path from IMG
Logistics - General - > Material Master -> Basic Settings -> Material Types -> Define Number Ranges for Each Material Type
to define the type of number assignment and the number range intervals for materials.

Hi Neelima,
Do we have this kind of option for Engineering change number too.
My requirement is, based on the change type or profile, the change number should be generated in different format (INTERNAL number generation). Do we have any chance of selelcting different number ranges for different purpose of product release.
Thanks
Vardhan
try creating groups for brakes and each material type and assign a interval differently.

Hi,
You can separate number range by materisl type. Please refer TRC:MMNR in IMG.
