500 Internal Error

Hi Experts,

Whenever the user tries to login to URL https://sap.aaaa.com/irj/portal it doesn't open and gives 500 Internal server error.

After 2-3 tries URL starts working.

Please let me know its a network issue or a configuration issue.

Also let me know how we can resolve this.

Please check the http://<HOST>:<PORT>/nwa >> Monitoring >> Log and Trace >> Default trace >> Open Search >> Look for the userid which are getting the issue.

If the server is UP and running then user should not get 500 error and it works after 2-3 attempts. It may be if there is any constom development/changes done logon and masthead par file.

ALos check the users browser settings and try to reset web settings >> tools > internet options > program. may resolved the issue.

You are absolutely correct.

Our server is UP and running & user are not getting 500 error and it starts working after 2-3 attempts.

Can you please explian why this happens,probable cause of it.

How we can avoid this.

Hi Nihar

Please make sure that there is no network issue any and have update the host files. Check the default trace file to find the root cause for the issue. Also check SAP Note 723909 - Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0 and also check swap memory

HI,

I think you need to first check with configuration because, 500 HTTP error code is generated for server side error.

Also there are also various reasons for getting 500 internal server error.

If it would had been network problem then it would had given you Page cannot be displayed.

Get log entry from Default.trc file to check this issue. Log file can provide you more details for analysis and solving this issue.
