How to link OIC (advanced search section) of a BSP as F4 help in a java iView

Hello, colleagues,

I have posted this in EP forum, but realized that this forum is probably more appropriate place 😊

Does somebody know how to create a link to OIC part only of an existing BSP portal application? More specifically, I would like to use OIC (i.e. extended search part of the BSP) as F4 help for an input field in a java iView.

Is it possible to build a url link to OIC, by setting if necessary parameters in SAPQuery?

Thanks a lot,

Arman

    Hallo Armin,

After reading your question(s), I must admit don't know where to start. So I will write you a few ideas, but am going to have to refer you to other sources.

First: no, this forum is NOT really the place for discussing CRM PC UI Framework. We handle "how do I program X in BSP?" questions.

From my knowledge, it is NOT possible to link directly onto an OIC. You must effectively create a complete PC-UI-F application, which in your case will consist of only an OIC. This must be created and defined in your backend system.

So once you have defined such a new application, you can of course start this application in an iView with correct URL. How you handle the data transfer between the two iViews I don't know.

My opinion at this stage is that you should refer to the CRM (4.0) documentation. Also there was a book written on this technology (via SAP Press). As you work for SAP, you should be able to get relatively easy access to this documentation.

((SAP Internal Only: A quick 30 second TREX search with "crm book" on http://bis:1080 gave me immediate a large number of interesting links. Including http://intranet.sap.com/crm-ui, from where I could read The Book in PDF format, all 289 pages.))

Thanks, Brian, for your reply. I didn't realized that my question was specific to CRM PC UI, you are right.

The book you are reffering to has very little practical info for using a BSP as F4 help *from outside a BSP*.

Actually I found, as you suggested, a BSP consisting only of OIC, and will use that. As for javascript for transfering data between pop-up - I have an example, so will be able to adapt it.

    Thanks,

    Arman
