Questions on MI 2.5 Architecture

Hello,

I have a few questions regarding the technical infrastructure of MI 2.5 to be able to plan its roll-out.

Will there still be the abap stack and java stack on the was 640 supporting MI 2.5 ?

If yes, is it possible (and does it make any sens) to split abap from java in order to have a firewall between them ?

Thanks you for your answer,

Christian.

    Hi Christian,

as of MI 2.5, MI will be integral part of WebAS, both ABAP and Java-wise. This means that all ABAP code is delivered as part of SAP_ABA (as before); all Java code (i.e. Sync Servlet and Web Console) is also part of the standard shipment of the Java stack of WebAS 6.40 (no deployment of meSync.ear and meWebConsole.ear required any more). Technically you can split the two stacks, but for firewall issues, you might want to consult service.sap.com/security first and have a look at the SAP Web Dispatcher, which is SAP's standard answer for firewall issues in the WebAS realm.

    Best regards, Jan

      Hi Jan,

Does it mean that in the future, the MI will be like the ITS: fully integrated into WAS. The functionnality will stay but the product as independent delivery will disapear (no specific versionning anymore) ?

      Best regards,
