hi folks,
is there anybody out there how know when sap will start offering traings concerning "JAVA WebDynpro Frontends" and all that new stuff.
kind regards
oliver
Hello Oliver,
depending on which group you are on, there are several possibilities. Currently there is running a lot of internal programms to get our own troop straight, before the product is out. The controlled availability is planned for this quarter, this means that it will be available in that time frame under restrictions. Those customers also will get and get also currently trainings in that direction.
Once NetWeaver 04 is out in general availability (which clearly is NOT in this quarter and sure before end of the year) all others will get training offers.
In parallel you can download sneak preview (recommendation: wait for the soon coming next version), which will come with a bulk of tutorials here on SDN.
Regards,
Benny

hello benny,
us was told that it is technical possible to install a 630 WAS to a 620 (R/3 Enterprise) system so that version should have GA (see also help/sap/com -> r/3 enterprise)
our problem? is that we have to realize a small webapplication that calls r/3 bapis and we have to realize this before summer so we have three possiblities:
- its
- bsp's
or webdynpro with java
and we decided to go the java-way..... so that's the background of the question, we do have java-know how, especially with eclipse where we do work today with JCO to get r/3 data - but for the webdynpro-thing we have no know-how currently, and as the product is already released we are wondering why there are no trainings available at the moment (or is it that intuitive that we don't need any )
regards,
oliver
Hello Oliver,
you can install 6.30 WebAS Java and access any R/3 that has BAPI's from there (I think this goes down to 3.1I as far as I remember), that is true.
As this is under restricted availability, you'll get special attention from SAP on your product, which includes training on demand. Standard training are usually not ready until the product is under general availability.
So please ask your contacts for such training. If you want I can also arrange such contacts.
AND... better check before if the tutorials are not training enought for you (so much for intuitivity)
I guess once it gets deep down you will need some training.
Regards,
Benny
hi benny,
thanks a lot for your answer, but i have one more question that goes in another direction.
i heard - i guess i have already seen a document (not from sap, a "training company") that the future direction of java development is no longer Eclipse, but a server-sided development directly in somewhat we know as se80 .... - is this realistic?
if yes, what about development in the eclipse environment for the future?
regards,
oliver
Hello Oliver,
>development directly in somewhat we know as se80 .... - is this realistic?
NOT!
There is no such plan at all! I don't know how somebody came to this idea. Maybe they misinterpreted Java Development Infrastructure as such, but this is a system that works as server side development support (version control, change management) with eclipse environment as a client.
Regards,
Benny
