The SAP GUI for HTML implementation model of SAP Internet Transaction Server dynamically emulates the screens of R/3 dialog transactions in a Web browser by mapping screen elements automatically to HTML pages. This mapping is implemented by HTMLBusiness functions (one for each screen element), which either reside within the ITS or are called from those functions. R/3 screen attributes are used to position HTML controls at the same position on the HTML page as on the R/3 screen. SAP ships a standard library of HTMLBusiness functions for mapping R/3 screen elements to HTML.

Since HTML pages are generated automatically (on the fly) - one HTMLBusiness page for each R/3 screen - you need no knowledge of HTML, HTMLBusiness, or scripting languages such as JavaScript in order to use SAP GUI for HTML.

If you want to allow users to run R/3 dialog transactions from a Web browser, with a graphical user interface similar to that used in the SAP GUI for Windows, and with no additional effort involved, you should install the SAP GUI for HTML.

The SAP GUI for HTML is one of two models for implementing SAP Internet applications that allow users to run R/3 dialog transactions directly from a Web browser. The other is Web Transactions.

More information about ITS in general (i.e. latest version to use, release information, FAQ) can be found on SAP Service Marketplace Alias SAP-ITS (http://service.sap.com/sap-its).

Hope this helps,
