Hi
What kind of experience is there in using WAS and Eclipse (SAP version) together as the total platform for both SAP and non-SAP J2EE development and runtime environment?
It could make some sense for us, to consolidate all our J2EE activity on one tool & platform.
Or could it?
Best regards
Jens Jakob
Hello Jens Jakob,
yes, you definitely can use Web AS and the NetWeaver Developer Studio to do SAP and Non-SAP related J2EE development.
The tools and the server have been designed as a full blown J2EE environment which offer very convenient access to SAP backend-system and a tight integration into the whole NetWeaver stack - these are however on-top goodies and do not restrict, but in most scenarios make J2EE development much easier.
Cheers
Ivo
Hello Dagfinn,
of course we know of many customers who have successfully completed development projects and/or run productive software on SAP Web AS Java - other than just Enterprise Portal.
One could mention, among others, UBS, infraserf, FAG, AOK, LSI Logic, Cepsa, EDP (and many more) as productive customers of Web AS 6.20. Success stories from the Web AS 6.30 rampup - which will go on until end of March - will be published in a couple of weeks.
Best Regards
