Installation of WAS fails - Missing service SERVER

When installing the sneak preview version of WAS 6.30 I get:

WARNING 2003-09-24 17:52:04

Error 2114 (The Server service is not started.

) in execution of a 'NetServerGetInfo' function, line (233), with parameter (HW7MY11, 101).

This is on an XP system.

I've been advised that this service corresponds with - C:WINNTSystem32services.exe

The question is ... how do I create a new service SERVER?

You better don't and let this do the installation. The message just tells you that the server was not started as this is needed during installation. There are several reasons why this can happen. Try to check the log files in the sapinst directory (\program files).

There should be an exception about this that should tell us more.
