WAS & NetWeaver Dev Studio vs IIS & with PDK for .net

Both have tha same functionallity or exist advantages for use the WAS & netweaver devstudio instead IIS & VStudio for develop applications for SAP?

In my organization the developers are very experienced with Microsoft's development tools, and actually we have several web applications that use the connector and C#

They don't have experience developing applications with Java, but if exist a good reason to do that, then they can start to learning it.

Thanks in advance

    Hello Rafael

If you go to the SAP community's Online events and find replays from TechEd '03 Las Vegas you can search the track Abap Development and find a replay of a session called ABAP Workbench News.

    This session contains 3 parts.

    1. About BSP - you may want to skip this

    2. About Web Dynpro for the ABAP stack - this part contains a lot of general information about Web dynpro also valid for the JAVA stack. I don't know but I guess that Web Dynpro being a nativ SAP tool must give some advantages.

    3. Is about ABAP tools - you may want to skip this.

One information from this session you may find interesting:

P.T. Web Dynpro is not release for customers (you only have the programmers edition).

First Webdynpro will be released for the Java stack in release 6.30.

Later it will be relased for the ABAP stack in release 6.40.

And even later again it will probably be released for the .Net environment, but I quess you will have to wait 12 - 24 months for this.

Eventually I think the tool may elevate to a level where you don't care wether it generates JAVA, ABAP or .Net.

If I was in your shoes I think I would continue with VStudio and with the left hand start test Web Dynpro - with the 6.30 programmers edition.

    Best regards

i just can't imagine how a .NET Webdynpro Runtime will integrate into WAS architecture where

only Java VM and ABAP VM are available.

Or will it be possible to deploy wendynpro apps to MS IIS.

    Greetings Ulf
