We have a requirement to restrict Cost Center access...
We use a Cost Center hierarchy and have created 2 ODS objects that create a Profile against a User ID to limit Cost Center results to a hierarchy NODE.
ie. LEVEL 3
LEVEL 1
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 3
LEVEL 4
When a query runs it restricts data to LEVEL 3. However when we try and use a USER ENTRY variable to select a single cost center (123) within the hiearchy (below LEVEL 4) the reports do not filter properly, and everything is still shown, except for 123!!
Any help is appreciated....

Did you ever get your security profiles to work?
We also need need to restrict queries on cost center.
Want to know if this method would be considered the "best practice" method for such a situation? Or does another method exist that delivers better query performance?
Trying to understand options when wanting to restrict BW Data by cost center.
Thanks in advance,
Cynthia

Note 502574 describes how you can generate authorization profiles in BW according to the settings in the R/3 costcenter hierarchy.
The generated profiles can also be used for a personalization of the queries according to the responsibility area of the user.
