Hi gurus,
I want to know if there is a difference between Customer and Customer coumpounded with 0COMP_CODE in the reports?
I have a query where at the same time it is displayed the Customer and also the Customer in Comp Code but I don't see any difference between those 2. The Query is based on the Customer in Comp Code InfoProvider. What can be the reason to have both at the same time in a Query?
Thanks,
Ramona
Hi,
Please note that Compounding is used to differentiate between same characteristic values which may be same but have different meaning altogether.
e.g. Suppose you have customer A, B, C in company code 100 &
customer A, B, C in company code 200.
Here, even though customer is maintained as A in both the company codes; they are different customers altogether.
In company code 100 it is A - Andy Corp
whereas in 200 it is A- Andrew Corp
So, in order to differentiate between these customers, we compound them with company codes. This is helpful during query execution and also filling of data in data targets based on master data maintained for customers.
If the compounding is not done, there can only be one record for customer A in master data table.
e.g. A - Andy Corp
Hence, whenever query execution is done or data is fetched based on this master data, details would be fetched as Andy Corp which would be wrong for customer A in company code 200.
You may also refer below help document for same.

So, when your query runs, it runs based on some company code, so that when the output comes out, there is a meaningful report.
I hope this was helpful.
