Loading time-dependent attributes

Hello all,

we intend to turn some attributes time-dependent. As there will be no period of validity from the source, we are thinking of adding the system date as new DATEFROM for delta loads.

Question:

When loading modified items: is there any automatism as in R/3 (that inserts the new item with validity "from now on" and at the same time modifying the period of validity of the old entry) or do we have to copy the old item manually before inserting the new one in order not to overwrite it?
