Install Business Content after some InfoObjects were customized

After InfoObject (say 0MATERIAL) was customized with a compounding InfoObject (say 0SOURCESYS), is there a better way to install Business Content such as InfoCubes, Transfer Rules, InfoObject referencing the customized InfoObject (0MATERIAL), etc without removing the compounding InfoObject (0SOURCESYS)? The implecation for removing the compounding InfoObject is huge, especially when the system has already went live.
