KM Mass Upload

Has anyone developed a means to perform mass uploads of files to a KM repository?  We would like to create such a utility and point it to a source folder and have the utility upload all of the files to the portal. While uploading the utility would populate the meta data for the file based on a combination of sources (MS Office properties, default value list, etc).

Thank you

Jerry

    Hi Jerry,

pure mass upload to the portal can be achieved via WebDAV (e.g. over Windows Web folders). However, this does not take into account properties other than the standard Windows attributes (file type, size, etc.).

For this, you would have to write your own code based on the released KM JAVA APIs (as they can be found in the Portal Development Kit (PDK) on www.iviewstudio.com.

    Cheers,

    Joerg

Ok, I got the message from SAP today that the client API's haven't changed in SP2. Though the server API's have changed. And probably a new client API is planned for SP3.

SAP's recommendation is to use the client API's that have been used so far....

I've created a program doing this mass upload with meta-data filling, based on a excel file.

It's not difficult to realize for a developer using the Portal's API.

    Good luck,

    xavier.
