SAP UEM standalone with EP5sp5 ?

In EP5.0 SP5 at System Configuration > User Management Configuration > Directory Server tab > User Information Type parameter there are two choices. One is SAP EP 6.0 User Management.

Does UEM work with EP5 ?

Can UEM standalone be implemented on SAP J2EE 6.20 running on a W2K server ?

The EP 5.0 user management relies solely on a Directory Server. So retrieving user information or attributes does involve a LDAP search.

The UME that is shipped with EP 6.0 is an adapted version of the UME 4.0. Thus it is acting as a kind of integral part of the portal installation. Also the UME services are exposed via web service towards the portal other applications most likely will not be able to use them in an appropriate way.
