BI Compression

Hello all:

I create compression , but just like to make sure how benefit/disadvantage to system?

is this just zip data or what?

What compression does is it removes the reqest id partition from the cube.

Advantage:

1. Lot of space is saved

2. Query output are faster.

Disadvantage:

1. Once compressed, request deletion is not possible. Only selective deletion can be done.

Compression will compress all the data records and place them in a single request (with no request number zero).

Data from F fact table will move to E fact table.

Disadvantage: once compressed request canot be deleted directly from Manage screen, you have to go for Selective Deletion only.
