Personalization for iView

Former Member

Our current production portal is EP5 SP4 with 3 lock clients and 1 lock server. We are using the personalization feature of iView to customize the iView for each user. And it looks like the personalization is server specific and you need to save the personalization info in each server. Is this still behaving the same way in EP5 SP5 or EP6?

Hi,

thanks for your request. I discussed this problem with our experts and to us the symptom of your problem reminds us more being a caching problem than a real technical problem.

From the technical point of view in SAP Enterprise Portal 5.0 all personalization data are either stored in the Portal Content Directory (PCD) (all Java objects) or in the database (all .Net objects). In SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 all personalization info are centrally stored in and managed by the PCD which uses a database as persistence store.

So the personalization is managed centrally and not server specific.I therefore would like to ask to check your browser cache or any other cache settings.

If the problem still occurs please feel free to come back or to open a OSS message on component EP-PIN.

Kind regards,

Markus Fuchs, SAP EP Product Management

Hello,

please check also your cache settings (HTTP-/ servlet cache and other) in your SAP J2EE Server. Use J2EE server admin tool for this.
