QuickCarRental Example Problems

Hi,

I'm having a bit of a problem with the QuickCarRental example, when I try to "Add Reservation" I get the following application error:

Details: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sap.engine.examples.ejb.quickcarrental.QuickOrderProcessorHome_Stub

I've tried restarting the server, reploying the EAR, restarting the application in the J2EE server...but always the same result.

If I'm reading this right then the problem came out of the core class noted in the last line....bad news!!

Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Stephen,

Could you please check the version of the J2EE and the IDE?

Build date of the Developer Studio: Help -> About: Version and Build ID

Build date of the J2EE engine: c:usrsapC11JC00j2eeclusterserver0version.txt

If you use the Sneak Preview of the Web AS, there will be another version II available by end of February. If you use another version, please let me know.

    Best regards, Karin

    • Hi Stephen,

this sounds like you are not working very long with EJB and that wouldn't be the best situation going into a project at customer side (nevertheless this has occurred to certain consultants before...)

Once you get the idea what the difference is between local and remote reference it is clear that this is not like it's the same thing: As the name says its the difference between remote and local access. And running a remote access locally (as you where forced to do in early EJB standard) really costs some valuable resources.

However, we're getting better in isolating errors and leading you the right way - one way to save you more time in the future.

      Regards,

      Benny
