Changing Field label in WebDynpro Java

Dear Expert,

Now i am working at SAP Portal environment, and building application with webdynpro abap.

But in another case, i am using standard application on business package ESS/MSS leave request which is developed with WD4J. I have requirement to change one of field label at standard searhhelp in this application. I am trying to change abap dataelement and also i am trying to change it in table directly, but it not changed.

Are there have a tools to change it, or any solution? I didn't knew where the field label maintained at WD4J.

Hello Agnis,

For simple UI changes in WD4J applications, you can try to use the personalization feature. (provided you are EP 7.0 or more)

Login to portal with content admin privileges and open the ivew in the preview mode. Then using Control + Right click on the element (label) you would like to customize, you can change the text.

The iview for leave request is located at

Portal Content - Content Provided by SAP - End User Content - Employee Self Service - iViews - Working Time - Leave Request.

However if you require more complex changes in WD4J application of ESS, you would have to use NWDS and NWDI for customizing the standard delivered applications.

For personalization feature, it can't to solve my problem. Cause i need change field label on search help.

I think i must install SAP NWDS IDE to change standard. I will to try it.
