Hello,

we are planning to change our database server. Is there a detailed step by step tutorial how this can be achieved?

Hi,

Before upgrading your server,

1. Check your current version is compatible with SQL server 2014. You may consider upgrading to SQL server 2016 which supports latest 9.3 version.

2. Check System and hardware requirement guides from SAP portal for server and client installations.

3. Make sure there is enough space for installing programs and daily backup of database.

Nagarajan

Hi Tobias,

If you have a new server, I recommend the following:

  1. on the current / old server create a backup of your company database
  2. check with SAP that 2014 is supported for your B1 version.
  3. Optional: check with SAP that 2014 is the latest version supported for your B1 version.
  4. on the new server perform a clean install of B1 and MS SQL Server 2014.
  5. copy the backup file of the company database from the old server to the new server
  6. on the new server in MS SQL Server Studio, create a new empty database (optionally: with the name of your company database)
  7. restore the backup of your company database, with overwrite, on top of the new empty database
  8. in MS SQL Server Management Studio, open the property sheet of the company database, check that the recovery model is simple, and that the compatibility level is set to MS SQL Server 2014

Johan

You should seek information within SAP Business One documentation:

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000032462013E.pdf

And SAP Note 928839

I just tested the link. It is working. You need to be logged in the SAP One Launchpad with your S-User and have proper authorization to open the documentation.

Go here,

and

service.sap.com/instguides

You should be able to find a guide. I just did 08 t0 2012 with a Guide from there.

some notes for 2012 that may link you to 2014

Hi Joshua,

These sources are all related to SAP systems based on SAP NetWeaver.

SAP BusinessOne and other products shall not follow these guides.
