Hello
I have created a process chain. Now i want to schedule it. During creation of process chain I selected 'Schedule Immediately'.
I understand that the moment it is activated it will run once.
My concern is that during the creation of the second step , system did not ask for any scheduling.
So , is it that the scheduiling of the process chain is not required for any subsequent steps / processes that we add ?
If that is the case then how the system creates jobs for the subsequent steps or process ?
Thank you
Regards
KK
Hi,
Activating the process chain will not create or schedule any background jobs.
Activating the process chain will just make the process chain available for scheduling.
Choosing the "Immediate scheduling" option in the start variant will not create any backgroud job unless you have scheduled the process chain explicitly after activating the PC.
After activation please scedule the process chain by using hitting 'F8' key.
Even in task bar you can find the option for scceduling.
General steps to execute/ create background job for any PC:
1. Create PC
2. Activate
3. Schedule - After scehduling only the PC will get executed based on the option selected in start variant.

For the one process chain, there is just one start variant which is defined at the first step. the other steps are linked to this one after another or if there are steps that need to be done in parallel.
You need to set a time and for the date put it to currnet date or a date in future form when you need to have a regular run. There are options to set it to daily or montly/weekly .
Then activate and schedule the process chain.

Hi KK
When you schedule a Process chain it is for the entire set of events / tasks that are integrated to each other within the process chain.
However, it is only during the 'START' event that the system would ask you ask to when you wish to start the process chain scheduling. Please remember that every step after the step gets executed based on the instruction that you would provide. You may wish the events beyond 'START' to execute upon success / failure / or any action of the preceding tasks.
The system is intelligent enough to enlist the tasks in the iob list and provide you the job log for each of the task within the process chain.
Cheers,
Umesh

Hi KK,
I think you are new to BI.
Let me explain, If you schedule the process chain Start variant then it will trigger the successive events.
As the process chain is built that way, like between 2 events you gave a link "Successful"/"Error"/"Always". This means you have configured the process chain between 2 events to run the successor event after the success/error/always of predecessor event.
I hope you understood.....

The scheduling of process chain is done in the start variant. And so whatever is the condition is selected here, the rest of the chain proceeds once the start variant goes to success.
