Hi,
We want to upgrade our BW 3.5 (Basis 640) to NW 701 Enhancemnt pack 1.
In Solution manager maintenance optimizer we don't have the 'upgrade option' but only the 'Maintenance option'
1. Is it something that to be set in SMSY for the BW 3.5 system ?
2. Our SM version is SAP_ABAP 700/SP16 and ST 400/SP17 is this version support the 'Upgrade' option and the enhancement pack ? Is it mandatory to upgrade our SM ? Note 1122966 says that Enhacment pack are support by MOPZ since SM SP15.
Another and last question is can we generate this XML file in sapnet without using SOlution Manager ?
Thanks you for your help
Sunny
Hello Sunny,
upgrade for Netweaver systems is not supported in Solution Manager, please see the list of supported upgrade paths on http://service.sap.com/solman-mopz .
On the other hand, if you have a Netweaver 7 system, you can install EHP1 for Netweaver in that system, with Maintenance Optimizer
I hope this information helps.
Best regards,
Miguel Ariñ

Hi
Aply notes that Mateus say.
Check
https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/solman-mopz here found important information how:
Upgrade
a "straight" upgrade for SAP Business Suite (upgrade from SAP ERP 2004 to SAP ERP 6.0, for example) is not supported by Maintenance Optimizer
Upgrade with an Installation of an Enhancement Package is supported for SAP ERP, SAP SCM, SAP SRM and SAP CRM
Check that you system is supported by MOPZ

H Mateus,
In the upgrade guide of BI 7.0 ehp1 (under http://service.sap.com/instguides netweaver -> netweaver 2004s) it says that we can upgrade from bw 3.5 to BW 7.01 EHP1.
If you cannot find the target NW 7.01 EHP1 in MOPZ this does not mean that the direct upgrade is not possible.
Sometime the options provided by MOPZ depends on the definition of the system in SMSY.
Saying that " you can't upgrade directly to 701 from 640" is a big affirmation that need to be confirmed first.
Thanks,
Sunny
Please check the following note that refers to other SAP notes that correct several issues with MOPZ depending on the SP level of your Solution Manager system.
1122966 - Maintenance Optimizer: Notes for Enhancement Packages
1279575 - MOPZ: Collective Notes for ST400 SP higher than 15
Please implement all relevant notes to avoid any know issues with MOPZ. Please also make sure that all systems are correctly configured in transaction SMSY of solution manager (see note 1122966)
I kindly ask you to review the "Must-Know" document under the following
links to get further details about this process:
Additionally, please check also the following notes:
1134872 - Maintenance Optimizer: FAQ for Stack Delta Files
As per point 2 of the note, please assign role SAP_MAINT_OPT_ADD to your user to generate stack delta XML. Please do not forget to perform the "user comparison" in transaction PFCG. Please also make sure that the IMG activity mentioned in the note has been performed and that the coding corrections are also implemented on the system (if not, please implement note 1134872 via SNOTE)
After applying the note, you would need to run the maintenance optimizer transaction again to generate the stack configuration file.
SAP strongly recommends the update to the latest SP level that is 25.

Hi
1. You configure your system in SMSY tcode with the components.
2. As you are upgrading a system you need to select the Software you are upgrading and if you do that you should get the upgrade option in MOPZ as well as Maintenance. My recommendation is update your solution manager to EHP1.
I have gererated xml file for EHP or SP Stack, I don't know if for upgrade can been generated.
