IBP COVERAGE returns wrong calculation when Time Period changes e.g. from weeks to month

Dear all

Why is it that when one changes the time period from one unit to another (e.g. from weeks to months) the calculation of COVERAGE is incorrect in the unit that is not the base/basic for planning?

Our planning bucket or time period unit is a week. When we look at the COVERAGE results all matches "as per book".

If I change from weeks to Fiscal Months (in our case our fiscal calendar per month consist of a quarter of 4 weeks 4 weeks and 5 weeks), the calculation is incorrect and what IBP display is the sum of the calculation per week for each fiscal month

For example, P619 is the result of adding up the 5 weekly values of P619 (in our case is a month of 5 weeks)

I was expecting the system to use the same logic as in Projected Stock at the end of P619 and the Independent Demand going forward: Projected Stock end of P063083 3,083 EA Demand / P719 6,900 EA Coverage 0.44

Is there a work around it?

Thanks in advance for your time

Roberto

Hi Roberto,

The Key Figure COVERAGE only makes sense if it will be viewed at the operator's Planning Level, which in this case is Week.
This happens because the operator likely calculates at Week level, but then in Month level the values are different since, for example, Projected Stock uses Last Period Aggregation (LPA) logic, while both COVERAGE and Independent Demand sums up the values.

A workaround would be defining the Time Profile Level = Month for the operator, so it'll plan at Month level; or changing the COVERAGE's Aggregation Mode to Avg.

Best regards,
Matheus

Hi Roberto

Does your time profile has technical week and your planning area as technical week as root . Please review unified planning area as sample and see if that provide your some information

Hi Roberto,

Have you found the solution for key figure "COVERAGE" when viewing at month level?

As the default calculation, for the aggregated level it is doing a simple average and disaggregation it is Copying. So when checking the data at the month level, the key figure "Coverage" at week level are aggregated(Average) and shown in a month.
