Asset depreciation

Hi Expert,

I am currently doing a write up for some of my assets and encounter 1 error message.

"Asset write up is more than the acc dep"

Can someone please advise ? I have checked and the total acc depn amount is greater than the write up amount. I wanted to decrease the acc depn amount.

Thanks in advance.

Angel.

Hi Angel,

A write up can only be carried out if you have cumulated depreciation values (from previous years). In the current fiscal year depreciation should be posted the 'normal' way. Write ups mean that too much depreciation was posted in a previous year and that you will correct this in the current year. Therefore, the system does not allow posting write ups if there exist no cumulative depreciation values from previous year.

In other words you cannot perform a write up for the acc dep .

Hi,

Yes, i wanted to do the correction as the depreciation is too much for last financial year. For the asset, it has accum dep of 30,000. I wanted to reduce by 15,000.

But system is giving me the error and does not allow me to post. Any idea why and how to rectify ?

Thanks.

Angel

Hi,

If ordinary depreciation seems to become positive during the calcualtion, it runs into AA634.

Please set the flag "all values allowed" in transaction OABN. The message AA634 will be resolved then.

Thanks. It solved 1 problem. Now I hit another error.

AA649. How do I solve this ?

Thanks.

Hi,

The error message AA649 is prompted if :

- you use a incorrect transaction type

- The asset has no further net book value which would allow further depreciation

- setting in OADB for NBV "only positive NBV allowed" are not correct
