S/4HANA BFR+ PostScript Characters Problem

Dear All,

With SAP S/4 HANA a new Output Management approach is in place. The configuration is based on BRF+. In SAP S/4 HANA, the target architecture is based on Adobe Document Server and Adobe Forms only. For the form determination rules (along with other output parameters) BRF+ functionality is used.

Our systems was configured by the book: SAP Notes and SAP Helps.

We have 10 printer of the same model: Develop INOE25e, only one of them is PostScript compliant (have a Postscript adapter).

We want to print billing documents on this printer model, but only works in the printer that is PostScript Compliant.

On the others printers, the system prints postscript characters. We already tried several configuration on SPAD, and the problem is always the same.

Do you have any knowledgement about this, It's possible The S/4HANA Output Management based on BRF+ only works with PostScript Compliant Printers?

Any additional information it's welcome,

Thanks in advance,

Serafim Carvalho

Helo Serafim,

Have you installed tool SAPPDFPRINT on the print server, as per Notes #2289706 and #1444342 ?

With a PDF device type it is needed to print the Adobe PDFs.

Bálnt

Dear Florian,

Thank you for your feedback,

All activities in the SAP Notes: 2292571 and 2292539 were executed.

There is a reference in note 2292571 that says:

"Previewing the document from the spool request is only possible when the device type is PDF1 or PDFUC."

"Using another device type can lead to alignment issues for SAPscript and Smart Forms."

"Frontend output is currently not supported, the output is processed via bgRFC."

The two settings I tested were: SAPSprint on the printserver (windows Server) and Operating System Call, but the behavior is always the same. In all PostScript compliant printers it works, on the nine printers non-PostScript compliant it prints PostScript Characters.

I just intend to find something that confirm this behavior. What this new BFR+ method is not complatible with non-PostScript compliant.

Thanks,

Serafim Carvalho

have you tried SWIN device types and install SAPSPRINT on the printserver?

I don't see a problem using the device types with S/4 at all. Do a lot around output management, but never faced any "old" technique not supported.

The underlying metrics haven't changed in this area.
