It was not possible to open the Information Space.


I'm constantly getting the following error in Explorer 3.2 SP1 (AD SSO is enabled)

It was not possible to open the Information Space.

It is not possible to begin exploration of the Information Space. (PS 50006)


D:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Data\Polestar\index\DNZBSGAPP85.PolestarExploration\Published\ExplorationIndexes\a947a4c3-15a7-4846-83e6-fd4609dc07fd\2010-11-09_13.19.55.364\ExplorationSpaceDescriptor (The system cannot find the file specified)

We have a 6 sever setup:

2 Web Tiers: Tomcat 5.5 + BOEXI 3.1 SP3 + FP3.2 WAR files etc + Explorer 3.2 SP1 WAR Files

2 Intelligence Tiers: CMS + Event Servers SP3 + FP3.2 & Explorer 3.2 SP1 CMS Add-ons

2 Processing Servers: All remaining BOEXI Servers SP3 + FP3.2 + Explorer SP1 servers (so 2 Indexing Servers, 2 Management Servers etc...)

If I reindex the Work Spaces then they work, but not for long (less than 30mins), then I have to reindex them again. I've set the timeout in the to -1, which disables it.

There's nothing in the Explorer admin guide to say that all the Explorer servers should have a combined Index directory either.

We haven't installed SP2 for Explorer as it breaks SSO and a few other things.

Anyone else getting this issue? Any constructive comments?

    be sure the user has the right "Create and Edit Queries Based on Universe"

    (right at the level of "Universe")

    Please check the following,

    1. Whether the user who is logging in to access the information space has the appropriate authorization in CMC for

    performing this operation

    2. All the Explorer related servers (services) should be running properly in CMC.

    3. The same user is able to create Information space with our any errors

      Hi Kevin,

      You are right.

      Here was what we were doing:

      - we created few info spaces.

      - then we indexed them, indexing never gave error.

      - for the most recently indexed infospaces we never got error, but for infospaces which ran success few minutes ago started giving error.

      - if we try to reindex erroneous infospace, it works again, but bugs other info spaces.

      This was resolved correctly by running only one Master service and if required raising the resource allocation (say Java heap)
